Commission Junction Provides Exclusive Online Third-party Distribution Channel for Eidos PDA Games
LONDON, UK – 20 February 2002 – With the initial launch of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" on Palm OS, Commission Junction, the largest pay-for-performance ad network, announces an exclusive partnership with Eidos Interactive and Celador International to provide the online third party sales channel for the world famous quiz game.
Eidos and Celador have chosen to offer the software free for download, allowing PDA users a "try before you buy" option. Publishers will earn 5 percent on the sale of the games and need no e-commerce facilities of their own to publish a link to the Millionaire game.
General Manager of Commission Junction UK, Nicky Iapino stated, "The game was launched for the Palm OS platforms on January 21, and already the program is gaining considerable momentum and uptake from sites predominantly with a male target audience of 18 to 35 year olds. These sites are expected to secure a healthy revenue stream as distributors of this popular product."
Using the extensive reach of the Commission Junction pay-for-performance ad network, Eidos will also proliferate e-commerce partnerships for sale of future PDA games that may be downloaded from the Internet. Commission Junction also announces today that it will shortly be launching the best-selling game Tomb Raider, appearing for the first time on Pocket PC, on the CJ network for Eidos.
Commission Junction was recommended to Eidos as an excellent online distribution route to market that was efficient, cost effective and an easy interface. David Burton, Head of Strategic Marketing at Eidos said, "Although the relationship with Commission Junction has just been announced, given the large number of fan and news sites, we can see how Commission Junction could become a major part of our online strategy over the coming twelve months. Through the Commission Junction network we can access a wide online distribution channel for our PDA products."
Iapino said she was pleased with the addition of Eidos to the network. "The network will deliver qualified and targeted product awareness that will generate sales, and consequential ROI in the most cost effective and time efficient methodology. Utilising our unique measurement tools, Eidos can quantify brand visibility and cost of acquisition in real time at any time to keep a close eye on the commercial value the channel is delivering. Our relationship with Eidos is in its early days, however it has the potential to rocket sales sky-high of leading name brands, such as 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and Tomb Raider."
